Roof Care Checklist for Palm Bay, FL Homes
Regular looks at your roof can reveal changes before they turn into leaks. This checklist does not replace a roofing contractor's inspection, and none of it calls for climbing a ladder or walking on the roof.
Scan the shingles from the yard
From the yard, look for missing, creased or cracked shingles and bare spots.
Check the attic
With a flashlight in the attic, check the decking for stains, damp insulation, mold or specks of daylight.
Look at flashing and vent boots
Look at the metal flashing where the roof meets walls and around vent pipes for gaps, rust or cracked rubber boots. Do not climb up to seal them.
Watch the roof after heavy rain
After heavy rain, note granules washing from downspouts, water spilling over roof edges, and leaves or branches piled in valleys.
Keep the roof's records together
Keep the roof's install date, permit records, warranty papers and dated storm photos in one place. If you spot a change or a returning stain, call to arrange a roof inspection.
